Nigel Adkins says Hull City were denied “stone-wall” penalty against Norwich City

Hull City boss Nigel Adkins has said his side were denied a “stone-wall” penalty against Norwich City last night.

The Tigers lost 3-2 to the league leaders but were left thinking what could have been.

Winger Marc Pugh was taken out in the box by Norwich defender Christoph Zimmerman a few minutes before Chris Martin made it 3-2 and Adkins has pinpointed that as a key moment in the game at Carrow Road.

He has said, as per Hull Live: “It was a stone-wall penalty, stone-wall. I’ve seen it back on our analyst’s stuff. He took him out of the game, end of story. That would have made it 3-2 before Chris Martin has scored.”

Adkins admitted that his sides’ defence was poor last night and that they gifted the Canaries a couple of their goals: “You cannot concede the goals we’ve conceded. That’s the top and bottom of it. We were very respectful of a very good side who play out well from the back and we started the game well but I was really disappointed with the first goal we conceded.”

“We were in it again and for 15 minutes of the second half we did very well until they scored again. The lads kept going, they kept working hard against a very good side.”

Hull take on QPR on Saturday at the KCOM Stadium and will be looking to get back to winning ways after back-to-back away defeats to Nottingham Forest and then Norwich last night.
