Lambert: Huws Has Worked Hard Over the Summer
Tuesday, 25th Jun 2019 14:31

Emyr Huws has been involved in the first two days of pre-season training, the Wales international having missed the whole of last season and the second half of the previous campaign.

Huws, 25, made a couple of abortive comebacks last season having suffered the injury at Middlesbrough in December 2017.

“He’s doing okay, he’s worked hard over the summer and he got yesterday under his belt, so he’s doing all right and touch wood he’s had no reaction to his knee,” manager Paul Lambert said.

“He’s a very talented footballer, but he hasn’t played for a long, long time so we have to get him back to the level I think he can do, and he can do it. I think for Emyr the important thing is he can stay fit.”

Asked whether there was a chance Grant Ward, released at the end of the season but still undergoing rehab at Town having suffered an ACL injury at QPR on Boxing Day, Lambert said: “I had a chat with Wardy at the end of the season, and the club had the option, and we agreed that we wouldn’t take up the option.

“Wardy is doing his rehab here which I think is only right because he got injured playing for us, so that’s the way it stands at the minute and don’t really have any plans to sustain it.”

Meanwhile, out-of-contract, England U18 international right-back Dylan Crowe, who has been linked with a number of clubs, most recently Celtic and Huddersfield, was spotted at Playford Road but Lambert says there is currently no change in the 17?-year-old’s situation.

“No, it’s still the same as what it was,” he said. “I’m pretty sure if you’d not seen him then you’d have said ‘Where is he?’, but you’ve seen him. It’s the same situation as what it was.

“My main focus is here on the first team. Dylan’s situation is what it is. It’s the same. The first team is the most important thing at the minute.”

Encouraging as he would be a massive boost for us if he can stay fit, but don't hold your breath.

So Dylan Crowe has been spotted at playford rd well that's a rarerity baring in mind he's a Ipswich town player although he never plays for us as I've been saying for months he does not want to risk injury so it scuppers his big move elsewhere don't know why they are paying although doesn't stop him turning out for England too big for his boots i think best got rid.

If Huws is fit and back to form then he would effectively be a huge new signing for us.

If Ward recovers then we could re-sign him in the winter transfer window; I think that he's a good player.

Crowe has big decisions to make. I would argue that it would be better for him to stay here for two or three years, commit and work hard. If he has as much talent as he thinks he could then go to a Prem club and maximise his potential.

A fit Emyr Huws playing alongside a fit Bishop & a fit Dozzell, just behind a fit Judge; wouldn't that be awesome!

Huws Being fit enough to sustain playing would mark a significant change in our fortunes and indeed his.

Re Ward, if he is fit, PL likes what he sees, and no one else is interested then he can be resigned at any time.... and don't rule it out. Klug is a big fan even if he doesn't know his best position!

Really hope EH is over his injuries, as at 25 still has a huge amount to offer the Blues. COYB
