Lee Bowyer provides contract updates on key duo plus the latest on loan for Premier League youngster

Lee Bowyer has confirmed that Lyle Taylor has been offered fresh terms at Charlton.

Taylor scored 25 goals for Charlton last season as they won promotion to the Championship via the League One play-offs and has become a fan favourite at The Valley. However, when he joined the club last summer he only signed a two year deal meaning he is now into the final year of his deal.

Bowyer also confirmed to London News Online that Anfernee Dijksteel will also be offered fresh terms next week and the club look to prevent another Joe Aribo situation. The midfielder left Charlton to join Rangers after his contract came to and end.

“We’ve definitely made an offer for Lyle,” and with Anfernee we are seeing his agent this week. We saw him at the back end of last week as well, but we’ll be going to them with an offer as well. Hopefully those two will sort themselves out sooner rather than later.”

It has been a good week for Charlton with Jonny Williams agreeing a new deal with the club after his short term deal ended after the play-off final victory over Sunderland in May.

The club captain Jason Pearce also came to an agreement for fresh terms this week in a deal that will see him continue to play for Charlton until at least 2021. There has been speculation that he may leave and Bowyer was asked about that and said There was talk of him going but he didn’t want to leave. He knows what we’re trying to do here. He is a good man to have in the building.”

The Charlton boss was also quizzed on a potential loan deal for Arsenal striker Eddie Nketiah and ruled out a move for the youngster. “He is in the first-team and doing well in the first-team. I can’t see them letting him out on loan.”
