Swansea City boss Steve Cooper has said striker Borja Baston is part of his plans for next season.
The Spanish striker joined the Swans for a fee of £15.5 million in August 2016 from Atletico Madrid but he has scored just once in 20 appearances for the Welsh side since.
Baston, who is a former Spain Under-19 international, has spent the past two seasons out on loan from the Liberty Stadium at Malaga and Alaves respectively having been frozen out at Swansea.
Despite the Swans being open to selling Baston this summer, Cooper has said he will be given a chance should he still be at the club come the start of the season, as per the BBC: “The chairman has said that publicly. But until such time that bridge is there to be crossed we will work with him and we are getting every single player ready for the start of the season. Everybody in the building is part of that.”
Swansea have so far signed left-back Jake Bidwell on a free transfer but are keen on more deals with Cooper adding: “It’s about it happening [at all] and not when. I would like to think we are not that far away from one or two coming in. We have talked publicly about maximising the loan market, but the big boys are out in Europe at the moment playing in tours. So, when they start returning hopefully we can see one or two faces coming in and add to the good things already going on.”
