Judge in Provisional Ireland Squad
Tuesday, 29th Oct 2019 13:57

Blues midfielder Alan Judge has been named in a 39-man provisional Republic of Ireland squad ahead of their November matches against New Zealand and Denmark.

Mick McCarthy’s Ireland play a friendly against the All Whites on Thursday 14th November then four days later take on the Danes in a vital final Euro 2020 qualifier. Both games are at the Aviva Stadium in Dublin.

Judge, 30, has previously won eight full caps and has scored one international goal. Former Blues David McGoldrick, now with Sheffield United, and Conor Hourihane, currently with Aston Villa, have also been selected in the squad.

Town are due to play Oxford United at the Kassam Stadium on Saturday 16th November but that game appears all but certain to be postponed due to international calls.

Haven't the club learned their lesson from postponing games?just play the game against Oxford. Most of the call ups are fringe players as it is.

If Flynn gets the call up cancel it. Otherwise we should play as Judge, Dozzell, and Dobra don't usually start. All we're doing is losing our momentum and piling up games for the future when our players may need a rest.

Squad of 39?! My Mrs has an Irish passport, she must have been close to a call up!

wow!...if this is postponed what a stop start few months (we're currently not playing this weekend) it has been, no reason to cancel the fixture as they are just fringe players and uninfluential ones at that!

Town have failed to win after an international break for 20 consecutive games, stuff the international break, get it played.

With the amount of rotation we have anyway I can't see why we are postponing games, especially on the back of 2 shocking performances after breaks, it done Sunderland no favours last year when they had 5 or 6 games in hand and failed to make them count.

Do you know when the Oxford game is likely to be played Phil? Will they fit it in in December or will it be played in the new year? My guess is the latter as Oxford went through in the EFL Cup last night.

It's not good for the supporters who want to go but only get weekends free due to work commitments. Yes I do realise there may be some who can't do Saturday's too. However which day do we take the most fans to an away game.
