“Superb” Nottingham Forest starlet tipped for bright future by Port Vale favourite

Port Vale favourite Tom Pope has moved to praise Nottingham Forest youngster Jake Taylor upon the end of his loan deal at Vale Park, tipping him for a bright future in his column for Stoke on Trent Live.

Young Nottingham Forest midfielder Jake Taylor enjoyed a thoroughly successful loan stint in League Two with Port Vale. He became a fixture in Neil Askey’s starting 11 before his loan spell came to a premature end due to the early ending of the League Two campaign.

In his time with the club, Taylor played in 25 games across all competitions for the club, scoring an impressive seven goals and laying on one assist in the process.

Now, Port Vale captain and fan favourite Tom Pope has moved to heap praise on the youngster. In his column for Stoke on Trent Live, the experienced striker has said that Taylor was “superb” in his time with the club. He added that he would be welcomed back with open arms if he didn’t get the chance in Nottingham Forest’s first-team.

“Jake was superb for us and we are going to miss him. But he’s got a new contract at Forest and this is a good chance for him now.

“Taking him on loan worked out really well for us and him. He basically came on trial with us at the start of last season before signing but did so well that the manager signed him up, then he certainly took his chance. Not all young players can do that. Some can’t handle the pressure of the games or aren’t physical enough, but Jake never looked back.

“You could see his confidence grow throughout the season. I used to have a go at him for shooting all the time – but he would stick them right in the top bin! Hopefully, for his point of view, he can go on and have a chance to get in the Forest squad. If that doesn’t happen then I am sure we’d love to have him back here.”

Taylor’s agent, Pete Sproson, told Stoke on Trent Live earlier this week that Nottingham Forest are set to take a look at Taylor this pre-season before making a decision on his immediate future at the club. It awaits to be seen if Sabri Lamouchi wants to keep Taylor at the City Ground or if he will look to send him out on loan again.
